After spending the night in the hospital due to high blood pressure and swelling, the fun began April 17th at 9:00 a.m. when the Dr. broke my water and began inducing labor with the drip. The labor pains were pretty strong by about 11 and I wasn't sure I was going to make it. Thank goodness for the mid day rounds. I had finally progressed to a 3 and could have the epideral (thank goodness for drugs)! It worked well and quickly:) We then anxiously and patiently waited until about 7 p.m. when we finally reached a 10. Things in the room really started buzzing and by 7:20 we were ready to start pushing...After about 4 tries the babies heart rate started fluctuating causing the Dr. to have to use the vacuum to get the baby out quickly. At 7:50p.m. we had a beautiful baby boy (with a large bruise on the top of his head), Kade Edsel Dean Wiginton. Kade is named after his dad, grandpa, and grandad. He weighed in at 6lbs. 10 ozs. and was 19 1/2 inches long - just perfect.
