3rd Birthday - Party #2

Kade's second party took place at the city pool. Thanks to our inside connection (Gigi), we were able to have a private party on Sunday. ALL of Kade's family was there and he had a blast. He was the first in the pool and the last out. I think his favorite part was the "jumping board". It was obviously not the presents because he wouldn't even finish opening them because he wanted back in the pool.

We took Kade to Chuck E Cheese for his birthday. It was a rainy Saturday so I think everyone in Wichita Falls thought it would be a good idea to take their kids! Needless to say, he had fun and so did we. Nana, Grandpa, Gigi, Aunt Shasta, Uncle Keith and Cousin Lindi all participated in the fun.

More Baby Goats

Thanks to Grandpa, Kade has a wide variety of animals within walking distance. About a month ago, "Blackie" had babies. She actually had 5 which is almost unheard of. Two of them didn't make it and one was in pretty bad shape. We nursed it back to health but the mother refused to take it so Gigi and Grandpa have been bottle feeding it ever since.

Easter 2010

Kade enjoyed Easter for the first time. He was fairly entertained with coloring the eggs (with cousins Byke and Racer) but really enjoyed hunting eggs and eating the candy. If you couldn't tell, he is a huge fan of his cousin Emma. She is older than Kade by about 2 months and he is at least two heads taller but she still calls him "Baby Kade."

Last Easter Grandpa got Kade three rabbits. Well, this Christmas one of them had babies (during the blizzard). Grandpa couldn't stand for them to be outside so he took them in the house to make sure they were warm. Kade loved it!

Christmas 2009.....A mixture of emotions!

Well, Christmas 2009 was quite interesting. It started off when we lost power on Christmas Eve thanks to a blizzard (or at least the closest thing to a blizzard we had ever seen). So, we went to bed beside the fireplace and ended up putting Santa toys together by flashlight in a freezing cold bedroom. Kade woke up the next morning and opened his gifts with little light! Then, my grandmother fell that morning and we spent most of Christmas in the hospital. We lost her about two weeks later. Quite a Christmas break!

Some of Kade's favorite presents were his train table and starter train set, hunting outfit and rifle (he calls it his shooter) and truck and trailer. I don't know where the hunting infatuation comes from but it is definitely there!!!

1st Trip to the Zoo

Baby Goats

Kade has several goats that he keeps down at Grandpa and Gigi's house. Well, when you have girl goats and a boy goat you know what happens. We knew that two of the females were getting close and they ended up having babies on the same day. Each mother had two babies so our goat herd grew by four in one day. Kade was so excited and even witnessed one of the births. I know that may concern some of you but that's farm life :)

Last tri p of Summer 09

We ended our summer with a trip to Gainesville. My mom's cousin Cathy has a lake house and we spent a long weekend swimming, tubing and fishing. Kade caught his first fish with Uncle Dallas' help. He also loved riding in the tube (on land or in the water). And as always, a day at the lake usually includes a nap!

Kade's first time on a plane was this summer when we went to visit our friends Robin and Sela in Nashville. He was great the entire trip. Several times we had flight attendants comment that they didn't even know he was on the plane. I suppose the cutest thing he said was that he saw "puddles" when looking out the window at the lakes and ponds.

Kade is a fish. He loves to be in, around and under the water. It's a bit scary that he has NO fear. He has had a great time this summer at Sissy's pool (Jennifer) with cousins Byke and Racer. We've also made several trips to the lake and he's a big fan of the boat, waverunner and beach.

First Real Injury

Well, we had the photographers out to our house to take Kade's 2 year pictures. After about 20 minutes he managed to fall off his tractor and bust his head on the side of the flower bed. After about 2 hours at Jackson County Memorial Hospital we had our first set of stitches. He was a real trooper and we now have a nice little battle scar!

Outside....

"Outside" was one of Kade's favorite words and to this day nothing has changed. He would stay out as long as you would let him and is happiest at the cows, at the barn with the horses or in Gigi and Grandpa's backyard with the goats and rabbits. Here are some pictures we took while he was checking cows. In one of the pictures you'll notice he's holding several pens. He is quite the little collector and usually has several of something that he won't let go of. He'll also make a "rope" out of anything that is remotely similar.

2 Years Old!

It's hard to believe that our little boy is two years old. Then again, we are quite glad that he is! This is a great age and we are having so much fun with him. His birthday party was at our house and the WHOLE family came. The couch picture is Kade hanging out with cousins Racer, Byke and Lindi. Kade was super excited when everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. Being the center of attention had him grinning from ear to ear.

This Easter was a little more eventful than last year. Kade actually understood what was going on when it came to hunting eggs. Thanks to Grandpa he will now expect baby rabbits and a baby goat every Easter!

I spent the last month working quite a bit in my home office on a big project. Kade heard the phrase "Daddy has to work" often. Well, I finished the project last week and have not been on the computer in a while. Saturday morning it was just he and I and he told me "work" and went to my computer chair, climbed up and starting banging on the keyboard.

Strange things on my head!

We don't know why but these days Kade enjoys putting strange things on his head (mostly undergarments). It's not out of the ordinary to find him w/ a pair of underwear, panties, a slip or a bra dangling off of his head. I guess it's our fault for leaving them lying around.

After waiting for what seemed like forever, Braden's pig Ark finally had her babies. Kade was so excited. For about two weeks he would wake up in the morning and say, "Ark, babies?" So, we were all glad when she decided to get the job done. Doesn't every little boy need to hug and kiss a baby pig?

Who Says Cows Can't Ride Tractors?

Kade got his little push tractor for his birthday last year. You will usually find Ericka and I pushing him around the house. We typically alternate times because you have to bend down so low that it's a killer quad workout! Well, I guess Kade felt like he needed to be a little more giving and push someone else around for a while. His cow was the lucky beneficiary.

Hats & Pajamas

Kade really enjoys wearing the cowboy hat that his Granpda and GiGi got him for Christmas. He really thinks it looks good with his pajamas. There are also night when he thinks it's necessary to wear is cap while reading his bedtime stories.

Cousin Bubba & the pigs

Kade loves his cousin Braden, aka "Bubba." Braden has pigs (pids) and Kade has become quite the fan. I think he just likes that fact that you can hit something and not get into trouble! For you non pig showing people, you lightly tap the pig w/ a stick to make it walk around the show ring. Every weekend Mike and Braden weigh their pigs and Kade thought he needed to experience the process as well.

I have a co-worker at WOSC that got married after the first of the year and asked if Kade could be in his wedding. I told him that would be fine but not to expect much! Well, for his first official job as a ring bearer we felt he did pretty good. But all that really mattered was how cute he looked :)

As we expected, Christmas was a blast with a coming 2 year old. Kade really did enjoy the Christmas experience. We didn't want to overwhelm him so he really didn't get very many toys. He loved his slide and is still making daily repairs with his "Handy Manny" tool set. The outside tools (rake, shovel, wheelbarrow and broom) may have been the biggest hit because he gets to use them at the barn.

Over the holidays we got to spend time w/ our OKC friends Bret and Amber and their adorable kids Samuel and Hazel. Jennifer and Dustin were able to join us for lunch and the kids had a great time together. Kade ended the social hour with a cookie while Hazel looked on and only wished!

First Haircut

Well, after almost two years of existence Kade got his first haircut. He really just needed a trim in the back but Brian gave him the full treatment. We started the process w/ the monkey getting a haircut and Kade ended the session saying "more"!!!

Kade's 2nd Halloween was much more exciting than his first! He had a great time at the WOSC student carnival and enjoying the putt-putt, duck pond and roping dummy. After an hour of games he ended the night at a few select spots trick-or-treating.

Feeding cows is a lot of fun but it's also a tough job. A little fella has to take a break in between bales of hay. And once the feeding is done a good cattleman always takes time to count the herd. You never know when one might wander off!

Kade is a big fan of checking the cows with his "dadda" and "grampa". We have to go through the same steps every night at the gate. Kade gets out, walks to the "gu"(gate) and hands me the "ssss"(keys). Once I open the gate he then pushes them open so we can drive into the cows.

Golf and Tractors

At this point in his life, Kade has several passions. Two of them happen to be golf and tractors. From his carseat he can spot a "tratter" at least a mile away. The first thing he says when we come home from any outing is "goff cub". So, why not combine two of your favorite things! Could this be a new olympic sport??

Big Bathtub

Kade loves taking baths. The other day he decided he needed to experience the jacuzzi tub. I don't know why the faucet in that tub was so exciting but obviously he felt it was an upgrade from the one in his bathroom!

Golfin' in the rain

Kade loves water so much that I couldn't wait for it to rain so he could go outside and get that experience. As most of you know, waiting for rain in Altus Oklahoma can sometimes be a lengthy process. Well, we finally got a shower and Kade had a blast. He ran through the puddles in the driveway and then went back into the garage to get his "goff cub". He then proceeded to hit the puddles with the golf club and make a bigger splash! Oh what fun!!!

Summer 08

It's hard to believe that summer is over and mommy and daddy are both headed back to work. We have had so much fun watching Kade grow over the last few months. Some of our best times have been outside with a $15 blow up pool and a water hose. Who says kids are high maintenance?

Atwoods Bucket

I have a row of shrubs and the garden hose won't quite reach the last one. So, when I water I fill up my Atwoods bucket and water that one lonely shrub. Typically Kade splashes in the bucket until I dump it but on this day he kept lifting his leg as if he was trying to get in. So, I helped him out and he spent 20 minutes in a 5 gallon bucket. Who needs Toys R Us when you've got a local Atwoods!

Glorietta, NM

We spent a week in Glorietta, NM for Sunday School Teachers Week. After much discussion, we decided to take Kade along (10 hours on the church charter bus was our reason for debate). He was a super traveler and had a great time playing with the other kids at daycare, feeding the ducks (and himself), catching minnows in the pond and giving his new best buddy Kristen Kendrix a hard time.

Summer Break

Kade has adjusted well to summer break so far. I had prepared myself to have to wake up a little earlier than in my pre-Kade summers hoping to get to 8:00 a.m. but much to my surprise, my little guy likes to sleep in too! He has been known to have to be woken up because it is after 11:00 a.m. I am not sure this is helping our school schedule but we are adjusting :) He also takes about a 2 hour nap in the afternoon as well. I know it is crazy but when he is awake he is BUSY BUSY BUSY. Kade and I have started Mom and Tot swimming lessons and will be posting swimming pictures soon.

All in all, the 1st birthday was a little stressful for Kade. His "Haas" family party ended with lots of tears and a VERY tired little boy. The "Wiginton" party was a little better but all of the excitement got in the way of lunch so he was a bit cranky due to hunger pains!

A Day on the Farm

Kade can't hardly go a day without seeing the cows and horses with Dad and Grandpa. He lets you know he wants to take a ride with constant "moo's". He will sit in my lap for nearly an hour looking and "talking" to the cows. There are even a few that come up to the window and he'll reach his hand out and pet them.

There are several people in Kade's life that just make him light up when they enter the room. Uncle Dallas is one of those people. The first several months of Kade's life Dallas was fairly unimpressed. However, now that he's become his own little person Dallas loves spending time with him.

I suppose that Kade's first Easter was pretty uneventful. If it wasn't for his Mom then he probably wouldn't have even had gifts from the Easter Bunny. Dad is way too practical ("He won't even remember it")! After hunting eggs at Nana and Papa Wigintons with his cousins he proceeded to try and eat his plastic eggs and throw them all over the place.

Kade loves to take a bath. Last week we took the "baby bathtub" out of the big tub and let him have free reign. He thinks he's so big and crawls back and forth from one end to the other. He loves pulling his little bathtime animals off the shelf and kissing his reflection in the safety drain underneath the faucet.

Kadybug

I'll try to keep this story short. When I was three my grandpa gave me a cow for my birthday. I named her Ladybug. She is long gone now but this white faced cow is a granddaughter of that cow. I couldn't wait for her to have a heifer that I could pass down to Kade so he could be included in the family tradition.
In October, she had her first calf and it was a heifer. The baby was appropriately named Kadybug. Kade is now in the cow business with a calf that is a great granddaughter of my original Ladybug cow. I'm sure my Bampa would be so proud.

After spending 4 hours at the photography studio we were able to get some really good pictures of our precious little boy. We also took our first family photo as a family of three. They all turned out really good and we were very pleased but wore out. Here is our favorite picture - it took forever but it was well worth it - We LOVE how it turned out, however some day he will probably not appreciate it too much!!!

Kade and Cousin Lindi - aren't they both sooo cute.Lindi, Kirbi, Kade, and Nanaw. Nanaw is Kade's Great Grandmother. We wen to Woodward to visit her before school started. It was a good trip and Nanaw enjoyed seeing all the kids.
Kade all buckeled in and tucked in ready for the trip back to Altus. Kade was such a good traveler he slept the whole 2 1/2 hours home.

Well we all survived another month...Kade is such a good baby we are so blessed! This is quite an adjustment for us but we wouldn't trade it for the world.

The cow is still bigger but Kade is gaining ground.

Life As A One Month Old

Kade is growing and is full of little rolls everywhere. This is one of Daddy's favorite little onesies. Kade is feeling pretty good in it and is already taking over Daddy's recliner.

Lots of changes this month...including eating some cereal before bed and moving to his room and big bed from the playpen in the living room. He likes the cereal and he now sleeps through the night. Yeah!!!

Look at those rolls and puffy cheeks... he doesn't miss a meal and enjoys his cereal.
